New York Noir

It has been absolutely stifling in New York this past weekend, and so I decided to hit up the beach early the other morning. This is my second beachwear post on KQ, (click here to take a gander at my first) and I'm absolutely in love with this dramatic, but still summery ensemble. I'll start with these brand new shorts I picked up from Pacsun, black and high-waisted with this awesome crochet detail on each side of the pant. The material is probably polyester (perfect for messy sand at the beach), so it has a light, airy quality to it and it comes off looking like silk. It was a bit chilly on the morning I went, so I decided to pair it with this loose-fitting button down c/o Brandy Melville. It's a perfect shirt to throw over a bathing suit, and so versatile that I'll totally opt to wear it during the fall and winter over some denim skinny jeans.

In regards to my bathing suit, I'm wearing my new absolute favorite bikini for this summer, my New York Noir Triangl. The material of these bikinis are neoprene, which make them pretty water resistant and durable for any kind of water activity. I love the particular finish of New York Noir because it resembles a shiny but matte leather, which I think is genius and it looks absolutely chic and flawless. You also receive a free neoprene drawstring bag with every bikini (and the material matches your bikini, soooo cute) which is extremely practical and I've been totally getting a good use out of it. Finally, for accessories, I'm wearing my Lokai bracelet, (if you don't know what this is, you have to check it out and get your hands on one!) and I'm sporting borrowed black matte Erika Ray Bans (thanks to Miss Amanda). I absolutely love the mix of the black matte glasses and the matte, smooth texture of my bathing suit pieces. Finally, my go-to flip flops for any beach day are plain old and simple rubber Old Navy flip flops. Mine are in a dull-gold color, which I adore because it matches everything. I've literally had these babies for years and they're still in great condition.

A little tinge of drama for the beach is basically any fashion-lover's heaven.

Happy beach(ing)?!
