Happy New Year! For my first 2014 post, I decided to share with you guys what I'll be taking in my purse as I venture off to Boston this weekend with Miss Lindsey. This post will go through my basic necessities, to things to keep me preoccupied during my travels, to my makeup must haves.
Lezzzgo.
The purse I'll be taking with me on this trip is a new bag I just received for Christmas, from Urban Outfitters. It's a plain black pleather bag, with small goldish studs and zipper; I think it's perfect for the winter months and it matches with a variety of outfits.
The number one item in my bag at all times is my Marc Jacobs Wallet! I received this for Christmas gift as well from my parents (many many many many thanks to them) and I adore the gold detailing on this wallet, mixed with the neutral leather. I keep my id, money, cards, coins, etc. in my wallet and it's super important for me to keep this around at all times.
If they're not in my hand, my iPhone and Headphones are usually in my purse, and they are a must-have during any trip, short or long. This one is pretty self explanatory, but my number one tip is to always make sure you have your headphones on any journey- you're going to need them!
Like my wallet, my keys are on me at all times as well. I like to always keep these in my purse, even if I travel, so I have a way of getting in my house on arrival after the trip. Again, pretty self explanatory for this one.
I am a sunglasses fiend! I carry my Ray Bans on me at all times in their case (so they don't get scratched!) and it's super important I have them on me for travel. In case I'm stuck in a train seat with a glare or simply for walking around during the day, I cannot do without these.
Never forget your chargers! In my purse, I like to keep my iPhone & iPad charger, as well as my camera charger. Usually, I'll keep my Macbook charger with my Macbook in my Long-Champ Tote since I won't be using my laptop during transportation necessarily, so I opt to just keep my phone, iPad, and camera charger on me. It's always handy to have chargers and a USB cable on you as well in case a friend is in need of one too, even though you'll probably hog them (which is fine, because they are yours:])
For this trip, I will be bringing along the current book I'm reading which is Stephen King's Doctor Sleep. For all you King fans, you may realize that this is the sequel to The Shining, and for about 150 pages in, I'm loving it already. I don't always enjoy reading in the car but I will read on the train, so I will most definitely be cracking this open on my way.
The next item I will be bringing along on this trip is my new iPad! I received this for Christmas as well, and it will be great for keeping busy on the train. Whether I can read, browse the internet (if I could miraculously find wifi), or play Candy Crush, I will probably be glued to this.
I like to bring along the nail polish I have on incase it chips or breaks. Right now, I'm wearing OPI's Sweetheart, so I'm throwing that into a zippered compartment in my bag.
As for makeup, I like to bring along my setting powder to go over my face before I'm ready to get out of the train, car, or plane. Right now I'm using my Makeup Forever Pro> Finish Powder and I'm just carrying along a powder brush from theBalm.
In addition to my face powder, I'm putting my current blush in my handbag as well, which is Tarte's Exposed. I find that matte blushes are the best for travelers with oily-combination skin, for, it will keep you shine-free! I'm carrying a baby Mac 129 Glitter Brush (From the Mac Glitter and Ice Collection) as well.
Since it is the winter and my lips get extremely chapped, I'm bringing my EOS Lip Balm along, as well as the lipstick I'll be wearing on the day of travel which is Mac's Diva.
To ensure that my face is shine-free, I also like to carry these blotting sheets from Clean and Clear. They work magically, and will blot out just about anything. I'm also bringing along my Mac's Extended Play Lash mascara to touch up any flat lashes, I like this particular mascara because the brush is small and perfect for touching up!
Finally, I like to keep a hand sanitizer in my purse as well, and the one I will be bringing along is Sweet Pea by Bath and Body Works. It's always handy to have one of these in your purse for quick hand washes throughout your travels.
&& don't forget your ticket! :)
Happy Traveling, whether it be for a month, a weekend, or even just traveling back to your college after winter break and Happy 2014!

I adored shopping on Newbury Street, so I definitely recommend that! My friend Jack also took us to Regina Pizza, this adorable little pizza place that was super Bostonian... also tons of cute dessert places near Charles Street were great as well!
